An Arlington Tradition
Al’s Hamburgers is more than just a place to grab a bite – it’s an Arlington icon. For over 60 years, we’ve served generations of locals and visitors alike, becoming a true neighborhood treasure. From our original drive-in days to our latest location in Fielder Plaza, we’ve stayed true to our roots while creating new memories with each passing year.
Whether you’re reminiscing about the old days or discovering us for the first time, we’re proud to share our rich history with you.
Back in 1957, “Big Al” had no idea that his little startup was just what Arlington needed. He went from having to shoo cows off the parking lot of his drive-in each morning, to becoming accepted as an Arlington landmark!
After almost 30 years of “burger magic”, hard work, loyal patrons and good friends, Al’s lease ran out and a shopping center replaced the familiar drive-in gathering spot.
The locals mourned the loss of what newspaper polls repeatedly voted the #1 burger around. As the days passed, the number grew to 4000 people catching one last farewell meal to celebrate the passing of an institution and to tell Al and his burgers goodbye.
After a 2 year break Al decided it was time to flip some burgers. So in 1989, the familiar sign went back up. The family came back, the waitress came back, the grill came back, and most importantly, YOU CAME BACK!!
Al’s Hamburgers has been passed down through generations. Today, Al’s daughter, Melody, and her husband, Gary, continue to run the restaurant with the same care and love that Al himself brought to every dish.
After 32 years, Al’s has moved to a new home at Fielder Plaza Mall! And YES, the servers, the cooks and the grill moved too!!
WELCOME TO OUR NEW HOME!
